Cindy wanted to shed off weight before her wedding. Though she tried a few crash diet plans and did rigorous exercise, it didn’t help her as she started feeling weak. Just after a week of diet, she felt lethargic and lazy. She craved for food the entire day. She quit dieting and got back on her routine feeling disheartened.

More than half of the Americans say that they want to lose weight, but the fact is that losing weight is difficult. It requires motivation to lose weight. There are a lot of ways to shed off the extra kilograms from your body. Here are a few tips that can help you lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle:

1. Keep an eye on what you eat
Dieters should maintain a diary of whatever they eat. Each and every morsel should be noted down in the diary and it should be monitored every 2-3 days. This helps you keep a track of what you consume and you’re likely to stay away from junk food items.

2. Don’t starve
The trick to lose weight is to keep your mind and body satisfied all the time. You can break the meals into five to six smaller ones and eat them at regular intervals. Do not stay hungry for more than three hours. If you stay hungry, you may get attracted to high fat food items.

3. Keep moving
Many of us live a sedentary lifestyle and become a couch potato in our daily lives. It is important to keep moving the whole day to lose extra weight. One should get involved in some sort of exercises or walking and jogging to lose weight faster.

4. Drink a lot of water
Drink at least two to three liters of water on a daily basis. Increase the intake of low calorie liquids and water to keep your body hydrated all the time. Drinking a lot of water will also help you eat less.

5. Get enough sleep
Sleep deprivation is one of the major reasons of obesity among men and women. Lack of sleep can cause overeating. Make sure that you get 7-8 hours of sleep daily.

Last, but not the least. Reward yourself for following the diet plan and exercise regime. For instance, if you lose 5 pounds, treat yourself with something- but not food items. Buy yourself a DVD or book for yoga to lose more weight.

Remember that losing weight is not magic; it takes time. Keep yourself motivated and get on the right track of fitness plans to maintain a healthy weight.
